Our 2024 sale is fast approaching with 40 pedigree angus bulls offered at auction on June 20th.

Over the last 39 years we have been blending the genetics of AI sires, home bred sires plus selected sires purchased from a few performance based studs to compliment the genetics contained within our self replacing female herd. We are focused on breeding cattle that are profitable, fertile and to suit a wide range of end the cow/calf producer, the backgrounder, the feeder and finally after the processor a tender eating experience for the beef consumer. Our aim is to produce an animal that has plenty of red meat with improved eating quality and tenderness for the beef consumer, our end recipient. The genetics we use are designed to deliver live calves that grow out quickly to meet the weaner market, but then continue to add kgs to meet all other market specifications.

At Medlyn Angus we select sires that have:

  1. Lower birth weight
  2. Above average milk figure
  3. A positive EMA figure
  4. A positive RBY figure
  5. A positive IMG% figure
  6. A structurally correct animal that is able to perform in all pasture situations

The bulls we are offering this year have:

  1. Fully vaccinated with 7/1
  2. Vaccinated vibrio
  3. Vaccinated 3 day sickness

In this year’s sale we have sons of Texas Moe R728 a well grown young sire purchased from Texas Angus, initially as a back up sire after the AI programme in our heifer herd. He displayed CW + 66, large EMA +8.7 and positive figures for both RBY & IMF.  Our heifers had no problems with calving plus these Texas genetics provided a complete outcross into our herd. His progeny are very quiet and easy to handle.

Our tried and predictable sires are also represented in the line up, Baldridge CommandVarilex GeddesBubs Southern CharmJMB TractionAberdeen Estate AHWJ6Clunie Range NBHM528. These represent sires bringing tremendous bodies with thickness, along with calving ease Progeny are docile and structurally sound.
